Alex Berlin
President, Chief Executive Officer & Founder
Mr. Berlin is a business leader with a proven track record in product development, product management and operations in the networking and software industry who brings to AFORE Solutions a wealth of entrepreneurial and executive experience. In addition to co-founding AFORE Solutions, Mr. Berlin is a co-founder of Ambercore Software Inc. ( data analytic company), where he served as a Chairman from 2004 to 2007. Prior to AFORE he was responsible for managing Ottawa R&D operations of the Broadband Routing and Switching Division of Marconi Communications. Previously, he held senior management positions with Nortel and Telrad Networks.
Mr. Berlin holds a Master’s Degree in Computer Control Systems and completed Nortel´s Executive Business Management Program.
Jonathan Reeves
Chairman & Chief Strategy Officer
Jonathan Reeves, a top technology leader and networking luminary, joins AFORE Solutions as Chairman and Chief Strategy Officer. Jonathan is a well known leader in the development of forward looking technologies whose background spans successful start-up initiatives and high profile public firms.
Jonathan has founded and led three networking companies Sahara Networks (acquired by Cascade/Ascend), Sirocco Systems (acquired by Sycamore) and Mangrove Systems. Prior to his entrepreneurial endeavours, Jonathan held a number of senior engineering and management roles with General DataComm (GDC). In 1993, Jonathan spear-headed the company’s ATM activity, establishing GDC as an early leader in the ATM switching market. Jonathan served as an Operating Partner with Bessemer Venture Partners, is on the Board of Trustees at Quinnipiac University, and is a frequent speaker at leading industry conferences.
Misha Nossik
Chief Technology Officer
Misha Nossik is a successful serial entrepreneur and a recognized technology leader. He joined AFORE as a CTO with primary responsibility for the Cloud Computing and Virtualization products. Prior to AFORE Misha served as EVP and Chief Strategy Officer of SIMtone, a pioneering cloud computing company focused on desktop virtualization. His responsibilities included running the Canadian subsidiary of the company, development of consumer and enterprise cloud-hosted services and bringing a family of SIMtone embedded products to the market. He joined SIMtone through its acquisition of Thintropy (company he founded in 2004).
Prior to Simtone, Mr. Nossik spent two years with IDT Inc., following its acquisition of Solidum, a fabless semiconductor network processing pioneer he co-founded in 1997. During his tenure at IDT, Misha was the Chairman of the Network Processing Forum (NPF), the industry special interests group, promoting the standardization and use of Network Processors. At Solidum he served as CEO and later EVP, creating the vision for Network Processing architecture, playing key roles in product definition and in raising of over $24M of VC funding.
Misha’s experience also includes R&D and product management positions with Skystone (acquired by Cisco), Timestep (acquired by Newbridge/Alcatel), Gandalf Technologies, RAD Data Communications and the Academy of Sciences in Moscow.
Misha holds a MSc in Applied Mathematics from M.I.I.T. University in Moscow.
Craig Bowditch, CA
Chief Financial Officer
As CFO, Craig oversees all finance, accounting, human resources and administrative matters at AFORE. Prior to joining AFORE, Craig held senior finance and controller roles at Alcatel, ActivCard, and WorldHeart.
Craig is a Chartered Accountant, 2011 Forty Under Forty Winner and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from The University of Ottawa.
James LaPalme
Vice President, Sales & Marketing
James is a recognized expert in the field of sales management, channel and alliance management. He brings 20 years of international sales and business development experience to the team. James has also been responsible for leading several investment and M&A teams, commercial turn around and emerging technology companies’ commercial and marketing efforts.
Prior to joining AFORE Solutions Inc., James was GM Mobile Group & VP Sales at Counterpath, where he was responsible for strategic accounts, channels and OEMs. Prior to Counterpath, James was VP Sales & Business Development at FirstHand Technologies, which was acquired by Counterpath. He has also held senior sales and business development roles at Bridgewater Systems, Nortel Networks, Crosskeys, Linmor, Interwork Software and Epson.
James has a BA from Carleton University and had completed several executive programs in sales management and negotiations.
Bruce Barkhouse
Vice President, Engineering
As a Head of AFORE’s engineering organization Bruce brings to the team over 20 years of experience in the networking industry including R&D leadership roles with start-up organizations, as well as industry leaders like BNR/Nortel, Fore Systems and Marconi. He is a key member of the core management team that led the company from inception to its position today as a recognized technology solutions provider in Carrier Ethernet and Cloud networking markets.
Bruce holds a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Waterloo.
