InterPort™ Technology
InterPort™ Technology is a suite of software modules, reference designs, and subsystems which can be licensed to AFORE’s customers to accelerate product development.
Currently, InterPort™ offers three technology solutions:
- Carrier Ethernet
- PWE3 convergence
- Accelerated Secure Ethernet (ASE) Sub-Systems
InterPort™ Carrier Grade Ethernet Software Solutions
InterPort™ Carrier Grade Ethernet (CGE) software modules address the key requirements of Carrier Grade Ethernet: OAM, resiliency, protection, and connection oriented provision. InterPort™ Solutions enable cost-effective product development for next generation networks.

InterPort™ Ethernet software modules include all the protocols which support the latest Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) UNI Type 2.2 specification:

InterPort PWE3 Convergence Solutions
InterPort™ PWE3 Solutions which combine system reference design and reusable software modules can significantly accelerate development of wireless backhaul and business access products.

AFORE InterPort™ PWE3 consists of the following major components:
- Any Service Any Port (ASAP) Pseudowire Emulation Edge to Edge (PWE3) Reference Design supporting high density T1/E1 and channelled OC3/STM-1
- ATM and IMA over PW reference code
- SAToP reference code
- CESoPSN reference code
- MEF.8 reference code

Accelerated Secure Ethernet (ASE) Sub-Systems for Ethernet and Fixed Broadband Wireless
ASE subsystems are custom built hardware and software platforms that can be licensed to networking equipment vendors as modules/blades on their systems. Modules exist in a standard AMC form factor or in a proprietary form factor, with fully manageable sub-system interfaces for the hosting systems. Sub-systems can optimize and secure Microwave Ethernet and other types of fixed broadband wireless networks in the following ways:
- Significantly improve backhaul network quality of services and reduce packet loss with AFORE high performing EtherCORRERCT technology. Our testing results indicated that network performance improvement by using ASE EtherCORRECT technology is equivalent to 0.5 db gain of RF.
- Increas the bandwidth efficiency over precious wireless air interfaces with EtherPACK technology, a loss-less packet compression technology. On average, EtherPACK achieves 2:1 compression ratio.
- Offer additional storage/Fibre Channel interconnect services over broadband wireless networks. In addition to Ethernet services, ASE sub-systems offer software configurable Fibre channel ports and SAN extension technology to interconnect storage network over broadband networks.
- Security. All packets over air interfaces can be secured with ASE EtherSECURE, an AES-256 based in-flight encryption engine.

High Performance Encryption Sub-System for Ethernet Transport and Switching
AFORE’s high performance encryption sub-system supports in-flight encryption for Ethernet transport, Ethernet private line, and IP/MPLS networks. It can be customized as an encryption blade on Metro Ethernet transport products, Ethernet switches and Multi-Service Provision Platform (MSPP). The encryption blade can be offered as a resource module (without ports) or a network interface module. It has the following unique values:
- Wire-speed AES-256 encryption for up to 4 Gigabit Ethernet ports and/or Fibre Channel ports.
- Converge Ethernet encryption and SAN (Fibre Channel) encryption within the same sub-system.
- High performance encryption with 50% less overhead than IPSec.
- Encryption without additional delay and latency.
- Software interfaces (APIs) to the hosting systems.
