OpenStack Consortium

OpenStack is a collection of open source software projects that enterprises/service providers can use to setup and run their cloud compute and storage infrastructure. Rackspace and NASA are the key initial contributors to the stack. Rackspace contributed their “Cloud Files” platform (code) to power the Object Storage part of the OpenStack, while NASA contributed their “Nebula” platform (code) to power the Compute part.

Open Virtualization AllianceComprised of leading virtualization, datacenter, and cloud solution providers, the Open Virtualization Alliance’s goal is to help:

  • Increase overall awareness and understanding of Kernel-based Virtual Machine (KVM).
  • Foster the adoption of KVM as an open virtualization alternative to proprietary solutions.
  • Accelerate the emergence of an ecosystem of third-party solutions around KVM.
  • Encourage interoperability, promote best practices, and highlight examples of customer successes.

MEFThe MEF’s mission is to accelerate the worldwide adoption of Carrier-class Ethernet networks and services.

 

The MEF, as the defining body for Carrier Ethernet is a global industry alliance comprising more than 175 organizations including telecommunications service providers, cable MSOs, network equipment/software manufacturers, semiconductors vendors and testing organizations. The MEF’s mission is to accelerate the worldwide adoption of Carrier-class Ethernet networks and services. The MEF develops Carrier Ethernet technical specifications and implementation agreements to promote interoperability and deployment of Carrier Ethernet worldwide.
