InterPort™ Carrier Ethernet Software Solutions

InterPort™ Carrier Grade Ethernet (CGE) software modules address the key requirements of Carrier Grade Ethernet: OAM, resiliency, CoS level performance monitoring, service protection, and connection oriented provision. InterPort™ software solutions enable cost-effective product development for next generation networks.

InterPort™ Carrier Ethernet Software – HA Edition

The High Availability (HA) Edition of InterPort carrier Ethernet software modules provide the capability to recover from the system failure and system re-start with no impact or minimal impact of traffic. InterPort software modules including: Service OAM, Link OAM, RSTP/MSTP, LAG/LACP, G.8031, LLDP and G.8032, all come with the HA edition.

 

InterPort Carrier Ethernet software modules support two types of HA:

 

Stateful HA: After recovery, the protocol software restarts its procedures exactly from the same configuration and stable states as before the system failure.

 

Stateless HA: After recovery, the protocol software restarts with the same configuration as before the system failure, but internal states are reset to the initial states defined by the protocol specification.

 

InterPort™ Carrier Ethernet Protocols - MEF UNI Type 2 Solution

The AFORE InterPort™ MEF UNI Type 2 Solution consists of a complete set of portable, standard compliant software modules to implement the UNI requirements defined by MEF 20 specification. The solution is fully compliant with the MEF UNI Abstract Test Suite Specifications (MEF  19, MEF 21, MEF 24 and MEF 25), and provides High Availability support:

 

  • Service OAM Module: Supports both IEEE 802.1ag and ITU Y.1731
  • Link OAM Module: Supports Ethernet First Mile (EFM) IEEE 802.3ah section 57
  • Link Aggregation Module: Supports Link Aggregation/LACP per IEEE 802.3ad and 802.1ax
  • E-LMI Module: Supports E-LMI per MEF 16
  • LLDP Module: Supports Link Layer Discovery Protocol as per IEEE 802.1ab

 

In addition, InterPort™ supports other important carrier ethernet protocols for protection, resiliency and fault management, including:

 

  • EAPS Module: Supports Ethernet Path Protection per ITU G.8031
  • Ethernet Ring Protection Module: Supports Ethernet Ring Protection per ITU G.8032
  • RSTP/MSTP Module: Supports IEEE 802.1w and 802.1s
  • MAC Status Protocol (MSP) Module: Supports IEEE 802.1aj Clause 23
  • Service Activation Test Module: Supports Service Activation and Throughput benchmarking procedures as per ITU-T Y.1564 and RFC 2544

InterPort™ PBB/PBB-TE Solution

The AFORE InterPort™ PBB/PBB-TE software solution includes a complete set of portable modules to implement the core and edge PPB and PBB-TE functionality, as described by the IEEE standards 802.1ah and 802.1Qay. The solution is fully compliant with the MEF UNI and ENNI requirements and corresponding MEF Abstract Test suites. The solution includes the following modules:

  • PBB/PBB-TE Control Module: Supports PBB per IEEE 802.1ah and PBB-TE per IEEE 802.1Qay
  • Service OAM for PBB/PBB-TE: Supports IEEE802.1ag, IEEE802.1ah and IEEE 802.1Qay
  • PBB-TE ESP Protection Switching: Support IEEE 802.1Qay based on G.8031

InterPort™ Ethernet Mobile Backhaul Solution

InterPort™ offers a software suite that addresses the key requirements of Carrier Ethernet based mobile backhaul networks defined in MEF Mobile Backhaul Phase 2 Implementation Agreement (MEF 22.1):

 

  • CoS Aware Service OAM (802.1ag and Y.1731) based Performance Monitoring: Ensure proper CoS for timing synchronization (IEEE 1588v2) over Ethernet transport network
  • Link OAM Module: Support MEF MBH IA Phase 2 OAM requirements (MEF 22.1)
  • E-LMI Module: Supports UNI-C to UNI-N signalling as per MEF 16 specifications and MEF 22.1 requirements
  • Service Activation Test Module: Supports Service Activation and Throughput benchmarking procedures as per ITU-T Y.1564 and RFC 2544
  • Wire speed encryption and key management

 

Resilient Ethernet backhaul network provided by:

  • Link Aggregation/LACP Module: Implements link protection according to MEF 20 and MEF 22.1 and IEEE 802.1ax
  • Ethernet Ring Protection Module: supports protection for ring topologies according to  G.8032
  • RSTP/MSTP Module: Supports IEEE 802.1w and 802.1s
  • Ethernet Advanced Protection Switching (EAPS) Module: Supports Ethernet Path Protection per ITU G.8031

InterPort™ PWE3 Software Solution

 

The InterPort™ PWE3 software solution is designed to provide emulation of TDM and ATM native services over a packet switched network (PSN), such as Ethernet network. The software package is fully integrated and tested with PMC/Wintegra WinPath3 NPU and includes:

  • PWE3 over Ethernet PSN control plane software
  • Complete set of Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) to implement control plane components as defined by PWE3 specifications
  • System level management API
  • Data path API to WinPath3 NPU

InterPort™ Data Center and Cloud Networking Software Solution
